Hosier Lane is a narrow, cobblestone passage distinguished by walls densely layered with vibrant, constantly shifting street art. Running between Flinders Street and Flinders Lane, the alley sits directly opposite the Atrium at Federation Square. While it is now an internationally recognized gallery for urban art, the space began as an unremarkable industrial service alley. Named for a local businessman named Robert Hosier, the lane spent decades as a rear access point for the garment and warehouse district before it evolved into a creative site in the late nineteen nineties.
