Museum of Chinese Australian History

The Museum of Chinese Australian History is housed in a five-level brick warehouse built in eighteen ninety by the Cohen Brothers, who originally used the space for furniture manufacturing. The structure later passed to Her Majesty’s Theatre, which repurposed the floors for storing sets, costumes, and as dressing rooms for the performers. In nineteen eighty-four, the Victorian government purchased the building to establish a permanent home for the heritage of Australia’s Chinese community.
