Comic Mural

landmark

Brussels is home to a sprawling collection of over sixty large-scale comic strip murals that adorn the sides of buildings across the city center. These artworks, which began appearing in nineteen ninety-one, were initially commissioned to brighten up urban walls that had become dilapidated after a ban on commercial billboards. The Dansaert neighborhood sits within this central area, where the murals frequently interrupt the typical brick facades of the city with colorful, oversized scenes from famous Franco-Belgian comics.
