Metcalfe Street is defined by its unbroken rows of late nineteenth-century Victorian houses, which form one of the largest collections of such architecture in North America. These narrow, brick-clad homes, often featuring delicate woodwork and bay windows, remain largely unchanged from the time they were built for working-class families in the eighteen-eighties and eighteen-nineties.
