The 519 is marked by a prominent wing added to its south elevation, a modern structure that expanded the center’s event space by nearly half. This building at five nineteen Church Street was once a condemned property slated for demolition in the early nineteen seventies. Local residents formed the North Jarvis Community Association to block the destruction, eventually convincing the city to purchase the site for public use.
