Théâtre du Gymnase Marie Bell

The Théâtre du Gymnase Marie Bell sits on the boulevard de Bonne-Nouvelle with a stone facade that dates to eighteen eighty-seven. Behind its green-painted iron grilles, the building was inaugurated in eighteen twenty, originally functioning as a training venue for students of the conservatory who performed short, one-act plays. Within a few years, it gained the royal favor of the duchesse de Berry and became known as the théâtre de Madame.
