Atelier 17 was a renowned experimental printmaking workshop that became a hub for international avant-garde artists during the twentieth century. Founded by the British artist Stanley William Hayter in nineteen twenty-seven, it earned its name from the studio's early location at seventeen rue Campagne-Première. Throughout its history, the studio prioritized collaborative research over traditional instruction, inviting artists to explore intaglio techniques like etching and engraving in a shared, often untidy workspace.
