The Maison du Brésil stands out for its raw, grey concrete exterior and the grid of repetitive, recessed loggias that define its facade. Part of the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, this residence opened in nineteen fifty-nine to provide a home for Brazilian students and scholars. Its design stems from a complex collaboration between the Brazilian architect Lúcio Costa, who created the initial sketch, and the Swiss architect Le Corbusier, who ultimately developed the building into its realized form.
