The Atelier Lurçat is a white, modernist house-studio easily identified by its clean, geometric lines and large windows designed to capture natural light. Built in nineteen twenty-five, this structure at four Villa Seurat was the first of eight artist residences created on this quiet cul-de-sac. The painter and tapestry artist Jean Lurçat commissioned his brother, the architect André Lurçat, to design the house as an affordable place for him to live and work while moving away from the rising costs of nearby Montparnasse.
