Théâtre de la Ville

The Théâtre de la Ville sits on the Place du Châtelet, marked by a neoclassical facade that mirrors its neighbor, the Théâtre du Châtelet, across the square. Designed by the architect Gabriel Davioud at the request of Baron Haussmann, the building opened in eighteen sixty-two. It has occupied many identities over the last century and a half, operating under a rotating list of names that includes the Théâtre Lyrique, the Théâtre des Nations, and the Théâtre de la Cité.
