The Mineralogy Museum of Mines ParisTech occupies the historic Hôtel de Vendôme. You can identify the interior by its eighty-meter-long grand gallery, lined with nineteenth-century Hungarian oak cabinets that remain exactly as they were installed when the school moved into the building in eighteen fifteen. The museum contains over one hundred thousand geological specimens, including meteorites, rare gems, and a notable collection of the French Crown Jewels’ cut stones.
