À la Mère de Famille is recognized by its facade, which has remained largely unchanged since the end of the nineteenth century. Located at thirty-five rue du Faubourg Montmartre, this building is the oldest chocolate shop in Paris. It began in seventeen sixty-one as a fine grocery store founded by Pierre-Jean Bernard, a young man who moved to the capital from Coulommiers.
