The Hôtel Drouot, located at nine rue Drouot, is the primary auction hub of Paris. Its most recognizable feature is a modern, nondescript façade that hides a labyrinthine interior containing sixteen active auction rooms. Inaugurated on June first, eighteen fifty-two, the building was created to centralize the city's fragmented auction trade under one roof for licensed auctioneers, known as commissaires-priseurs.
