Passage Jouffroy is recognizable by its long, light-filled arcade covered by an intricate iron and glass roof. Located in the ninth arrondissement, this covered walkway stretches one hundred and forty meters between Boulevard Montmartre and Rue de la Grange-Batelière. Built between eighteen thirty-six and eighteen forty-five by architects François-Hippolyte Destailleur and Romain de Bourges, the passage was designed to offer shoppers a weatherproof environment. It earned its name from Count Félix de Jouffroy-Gonsans, the landowner who managed the development.
