Théâtre de l'Athénée (rue Scribe)

The Théâtre de l'Athénée, located at the square de l'Opéra-Louis-Jouvet, is recognizable by its intimate Italian-style auditorium and its association with the director Louis Jouvet. The current building emerged from the remains of the short-lived Éden-Théâtre, a failed spectacle hall that once aimed to mimic a Hindu temple. In eighteen ninety-three, architect Stanislas Loison repurposed the site into the Comédie-Parisienne, which soon became the Athénée.
