Église des Billettes

The Église des Billettes on Rue des Archives is distinguished by a rare, fifteenth-century Gothic cloister that sits tucked away beside its Neoclassical facade. This cloister, with its open galleries and octagonal columns, remains the only medieval example of its kind still standing in Paris. The site originated in twelve ninety-four as a chapel dedicated to a local miracle, and it takes its name from the Billettes, an order of monks who once wore a small emblem called a billette to identify themselves.
