The Synagogue des Tournelles stands on the Rue des Tournelles in the Marais district, identifiable by a tripartite façade that features large arcades, Corinthian-style pilasters, and a prominent rose window. Above the entrance, stone sculptures depict the Tablets of the Law inscribed with Hebrew text. Completed in eighteen seventy-six, the structure was designed by architect Marcellin-Emmanuel Varcollier, who sought to create a building that integrated seamlessly into the Haussmannian urban landscape of the time.
