Halle Saint-Pierre

The Halle Saint-Pierre is defined by its sweeping iron framework and large glass panels, a signature style of the nineteenth-century architect Victor Baltard. Constructed in eighteen sixty-eight, the building originally functioned as a covered market at the base of the Montmartre hill. Over the decades, the structure shifted through various roles, including use as a school and a municipal garage, before its character underwent a final change.
