La Cigale sits at one hundred and twenty Boulevard de Rochechouart, anchored by a distinctive, ornate facade that marks the entrance to this historic concert hall. Established in eighteen eighty-seven on the site of the former Boule Noire cabaret, the venue has occupied a central role in the cultural life of the Pigalle district for over a century. Its architecture, expanded and remodeled in eighteen ninety-four by Henry Grandpierre, features ceiling paintings by Adolphe Léon Willette that remain part of the interior character today.
