Cabaret Au Lapin Agile

The Cabaret Au Lapin Agile is easily picked out by the painted sign on its exterior wall: a rabbit wearing a scarf, captured in the middle of leaping out of a cooking pot. This small building on the corner of Rue des Saules and Rue Saint-Vincent dates back to seventeen ninety-five, long before the area became a magnet for artists. In its early years, the spot was known as the Cabaret des Assassins, a name earned by the portraits of notorious criminals that once lined its walls.
