The Musée de la Vie romantique is a pale pink house with green shutters, nestled at the foot of Montmartre hill. It is a former hôtel particulier, built in eighteen thirty, which served as the home and studio of the Dutch painter Ary Scheffer. A leafy path leads from the busy street into a quiet courtyard, where the main residence sits alongside a greenhouse and two artist studios.
