Cabaret de L'Enfer

The Cabaret de l'Enfer once greeted visitors with a facade featuring the monumental, gaping jaws of a Leviathan. Founded by Antonin Alexander in November eighteen ninety-two, this venue sat at the foot of the Montmartre hill on Boulevard de Clichy. It functioned as an early predecessor to theme restaurants, where the primary draw was a carefully crafted atmosphere of damnation. Inside, patrons were served by staff dressed as demons, while the decor featured fiery walls and devilish iconography.
