Grand Guignol

The Grand Guignol occupies a building at seven, cité Chaptal, tucked away at the end of a narrow dead-end street in the Pigalle district. Originally a chapel, the space retains architectural remnants of its religious past, including balcony boxes that once functioned as confessionals and wooden angels that hover over the orchestra. With fewer than three hundred seats, it was one of the smallest theaters in Paris when it opened in eighteen ninety-seven.
