Place de Valois

Place de Valois is an open, symmetrical square distinguished by its uniform classical architecture and a peaceful, car-free atmosphere tucked away from the main streets of the first arrondissement. It opened to the public in seventeen ninety on ground that once housed the offices of the Palais-Royal. In its earliest years, the space was known as the Cour des Fontaines, named for the water features installed to support the many receptions held at the neighboring palace.
