The Salle Richelieu is recognizable by its grand, classical facade located on the Place Colette, at the edge of the Palais-Royal complex. Built between seventeen eighty-six and seventeen ninety by the architect Victor Louis, this Italian-style theatre features a horseshoe-shaped auditorium designed to maximize the visibility and acoustics for its eight hundred and sixty-two spectators.
