The Ochsengarten sits on Müllerstraße, identifiable as a traditional, plain-fronted building that has operated as a bar since eighteen fifty. While it once served as an ordinary restaurant for cattle market workers and later as a wine bar in the city's red-light district, it shifted identity in nineteen sixty-seven. Following the decriminalization of homosexuality in nineteen sixty-nine, the owner Auguste Wirsing established it as Germany’s first dedicated leather bar.
