Kunsthofpassage Dresden

The Kunsthofpassage is a series of five interconnected courtyards tucked away behind residential buildings between Alaunstrasse and Görlitzer Strasse. You can identify the site by the elaborate, colorful, and kinetic facades that wrap around each courtyard, moving far beyond standard apartment architecture. Completed in two thousand one, this project turned a collection of neglected, run-down backyards into a living art gallery. Local artists and architects collaborated to give each space a distinct identity based on themes like light, animals, and metamorphosis.
