Archer (1902; Ernst Moritz Geyger)

The bronze figure of a man straining to draw back a bow stands upon a tall stone base along the banks of the Elbe. Created by the sculptor Ernst Moritz Geyger, this work is known as the Archer, or Bogenschütze. The athletic form of the figure draws on the long history of the Dresden Archery Society, a group that maintained a significant presence in the city’s social life for generations.
