Palace of Culture

The Palace of Culture, known to locals as the Kulti, is a large, low-slung cubic building in the heart of Dresden that contrasts sharply with the city’s traditional architecture. Designed by Wolfgang Hänsch and completed in nineteen sixty-nine, it stands out as an unapologetic example of modernist design from the era of the German Democratic Republic. Its west facade displays a massive mural titled The Way of the Red Flag, created from concrete slabs and colored glass.
