The Semperoper is recognizable by its Neo-Renaissance sandstone facade, which features a prominent Panther quadriga carrying Dionysos and Ariadne atop the building. This grand structure on Theaterplatz has been a focal point of Dresden's musical life since its original iteration opened in eighteen forty-one, designed by architect Gottfried Semper.
