Academy of Fine Arts Dresden

The Academy of Fine Arts Dresden is recognizable by the grand glass dome rising from its center, which locals call the lemon squeezer due to its distinct, ribbed shape. Architect Constantin Lipsius designed this neo-renaissance building between eighteen eighty-seven and eighteen ninety-four to house the royal academy. Two gilded statues of the Greek gods Phantasos and Eros stand along the roofline facing the Elbe River, crowning an institution that has trained artists for over two hundred and fifty years.
