The Moritz Monument stands as a six-meter-tall sandstone relief built into the outer wall of the Jungfernbastei, at the edge of the Brühlsche Terrasse. As the oldest preserved monument in Dresden, it has marked the transition of power in Saxony since its creation by the sculptor Hans Walther in fifteen fifty-five.
