Nymphenbad

The Nymphenbad is an enclosed courtyard set into the fortress wall of the Zwinger Palace. You can distinguish it by the tiered, artificial waterfall that descends from the upper wall into a series of basins, surrounded by alcoves holding statues of nymphs and sea creatures. Designed by Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann with sculptures by Balthasar Permoser, this site was completed in the early eighteenth century as part of the elector Augustus the Strong’s pleasure grounds.
