School of Architecture, National Technical University of Athens

The Averof Building is the historic home of the School of Architecture at the National Technical University of Athens. You can identify it by its neoclassical facade, which features two monumental staircases leading to an Ionic porch modeled directly after the north wing of the Erechtheion on the Acropolis. Designed by architect Lysandros Kaftantzoglou and completed in eighteen seventy-eight, the building is organized symmetrically around a central atrium filled with Doric columns.
