The Capuchin Church, officially the Parish Church of Saint Elizabeth of the House of Árpád, occupies a site with deep historical layers at Fő utca thirty-two. Its northern and southern walls still incorporate masonry from the seventeenth-century mosque of Tojgun Pasha that once stood here. After the expulsion of Ottoman forces, Archbishop György Széchényi founded a Capuchin monastery on this ground in sixteen eighty-seven, repurposing the former mosque and a nearby Turkish bath for the order.
