Gurdwara Saragarhi Sahib commemorates twenty-one soldiers of the thirty-sixth Sikh Regiment who died in the Battle of Saragarhi on September twelfth, eighteen ninety-seven. These men held a small communication outpost in Waziristan against an attack by ten thousand tribesmen, fighting for seven hours to protect the position. Their resistance allowed nearby forts to prepare for the assault.
