The Hotel Rosita is identified by its traditional Mexican architecture, featuring whitewashed walls and red tile roofs at the northern end of the Malecón. Built in nineteen forty-eight by Salvador González Gutiérrez, the property began as a modest twelve-room establishment on what was then largely empty land near a former cemetery. At the time of its opening, the hotel lacked both electricity and piped water; guests were provided with oil lamps and drew their own water from fifty-gallon drums in their rooms.
