La Palapa is recognizable by its expansive, palm-thatched roof, a design initially crafted by Guillermo Wulff using regional materials to mirror the area's tropical surroundings. Situated directly on the sand of Playa Los Muertos, the restaurant opened in nineteen fifty-nine as the first beachfront dining establishment in Puerto Vallarta.
