Adoratorio de Ehécatl

The Adoratorio de Ehécatl is a small, circular stone pyramid built from volcanic tezontle rock, characterized by its multiple superimposed levels. Tucked directly into the transit tunnels of the Pino Suárez Metro station, this structure stands as a remnant of a larger ceremonial center that once occupied the heart of the Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan. It was discovered by surprise between nineteen sixty-seven and nineteen seventy during the initial excavations for the city's subway lines, where it has remained on public view ever since.
