At the corner of José María Pino Suárez and República de El Salvador streets, a massive basalt serpent head protrudes from the base of a stone building. This snarling, fanged sculpture is a relic of the Mexica empire that once dominated the city, now embedded directly into the facade of the building that houses the Museum of the City of Mexico.
