Café El Popular, located at number fifty-two on the street of Five of May, is marked by its perpetual activity and a classic, unpretentious storefront that has remained a constant in the Centro Histórico since nineteen forty-eight. Founded by Luis Eng Fui, who came to Mexico City after spending time in Tampico, the café was established near a former bus station. This location made it a hub for night-shift workers, journalists, and students who needed a meal at any hour.
