Pastelería Madrid sits on the corner of Calle Cinco de Febrero, marked by a logo inspired by the Fuente de Cibeles in Spain. This bakery began in December nineteen thirty-nine, opening its doors just as the Spanish Civil War concluded. Its founders were refugees who arrived in Mexico during the presidency of Lázaro Cárdenas, taking over a pair of storefronts that had previously housed a shop for phonographs and records as well as a hat store.
