Libreria Selecta sits at number seventy-nine on Donceles Street in the historic center of Mexico City. You can pick it out by its age-worn appearance and the sheer density of volumes filling the building, which houses over one hundred thousand books. Founded in nineteen sixty-eight by the Lopez Casillas brothers, it was the first bookstore they established on this street, helping turn Donceles into a primary corridor for the city's second-hand book trade.
