Piccadilly Records

Piccadilly Records is a long-standing independent music store on Oldham Street, identifiable by its deep connection to the city's musical output since the late nineteen seventies. It began not as a record store, but as a record department inside a white goods retailer called Edwin P. Lees, which sold fridges and washing machines. When that chain closed in nineteen eighty-three, the staff used the government-backed Enterprise Allowance Scheme to reopen the shop independently.
