The Peterloo Massacre Memorial is a wide, circular structure of eleven concentric steps rising from the pavement. Crafted from various British stones, including granites, sandstones, and slates, the monument is engraved with the names of eighteen victims and the towns from which they traveled to join the protest. The design, by artist Jeremy Deller, evokes a burial mound and functions as an informal platform for public speaking.
