Lighthouse, located on West Nicolson Street, is an independent community bookshop easily identified by an A-frame blackboard out front that typically reads, "everyone welcome." This storefront has operated as a bookshop for over thirty years. It originally opened in nineteen ninety-four as Word Power Books, a radical shop founded by Elaine Henry to continue the legacy of various local feminist, workers, and LGBT bookshops that had previously closed.
