Seward Park Concrete Slides

The Seward Street Slides are a pair of parallel, steep concrete chutes that descend into a sand pit at the bottom of a hillside in Eureka Valley. Built in nineteen seventy-three, these slides are the centerpiece of a small neighborhood park tucked between residential homes. The design for the slides originated with a teenager named Kim Clark, who won a local competition organized by the sculptor Ruth Asawa.
