710 Ashbury St

Seven hundred ten Ashbury Street is a purple Victorian house built in eighteen ninety that sits on a hill just above the Haight-Ashbury intersection. Between October nineteen sixty-six and March nineteen sixty-eight, the building served as the communal home and headquarters for the rock band the Grateful Dead. Members including Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, and Ron Pigpen McKernan lived and rehearsed here during the height of the counterculture era.
