San Francisco Columbarium & Funeral Home

The San Francisco Columbarium is identifiable by its weathered copper dome, which rises above a quiet residential cul-de-sac in the Richmond District. Built in eighteen ninety-eight by British architect Bernard Cahill, the Neo-Classical structure is the only nondenominational facility for memorializing cremated remains still operating within the city limits. It features a forty-five-foot atrium, mosaic tile floors, and stained-glass windows that remain from the building’s original construction.
