The Bank of California Building at four hundred California Street is defined by a colossal colonnade that surrounds its three sides. This Greco-Roman structure, completed in nineteen oh eight, features twelve Corinthian columns along its California and Sansome Street facades. Architects Walter Danforth Bliss and William Baker Faville designed the building to evoke the stability of eastern financial institutions, modeling it after the Knickerbocker Trust Company in New York City.
